Build a Grand Scale Homesteading Greenhouse Project

This tutorial of how to build a grand scale homesteading greenhouse project comes with detailed plans to make it possible for a motivated person. Serious plant growers know the absolute benefits of having one or more greenhouses. These structures make it possible to grow almost any plant year round without the concern on the temperature, too much or not enough moisture.

A greenhouse can be made out of a number of materials, but almost always feature and clear or opaque plastic sheeting for a roof and side panels. This allows for both protection from elements and to allow as much natural sunlight to get in for the plant growth

This do it yourself greenhouse project was shared by homesteader who always wanted to have a way to extend their growing season. So they decided to share his experience in the form of this DIY project. It is presented in a way that most anyone with some DIY skills should be able to follow the instructions and build their very own greenhouse.

Materials for 32″ stud walls –

3 – 2×4 @ 10 feet long – use on back wall
5 – 2×4 @ 12 feet long – use on sides/ridgepole DO NOT CUT)
32 – 2×4 @ 8 feet long
11 – 12 foot long x 26″ wide standard corrugated plastic greenhouse panels
1 – 8 foot long x 26″ wide standard corrugated plastic greenhouse panel (use on door side)
3 – 12 foot long tin panels (use on sides and back)
1 – 8 foot long tin panel (use on front)
Tin screws
28 – 4′ long ribbing strips
L flashing (optional for the corners)
You’ll need either metal gussets for the trusses or to cut plywood ones from 1/2″ plywood.
– Will make door in later plan
3 inch screws
Elmer’s Wood Glue
