Build Your Cats A Scratching Post Climbing Tower

If you have cats then you already know how expensive those scratching posts can be. Some are just a carpet covered 2×4 and they sell for like 30 dollars. The cat might scratch on it once or twice and then you are looking at a 30 dollar thing sitting on your floor completely ignored by everyone but you and it drives you nuts. Okay it drives me nuts to look at one that no cat uses and moving it back and forth to vacuum around it just makes me irritated that I ever spent 30 dollars on it in the first place, darn cat.

But this diy scratching post/climbing tower is awesome and all cats, every cat I have ever known likes to climb and perch from elevated places so this is perfect. They can scratch the rope parts and climb and perch on the rest of it and if I know cats ,they are going to spend a lot of time on this one. Just knowing it is being used a lot will make me not so grouchy when I am cleaning around it because at least it is being used and enjoyed.

On My Honor I will Try shares the tutorial for this and spent around 95 dollars and a weekend figuring it out and putting it together but this is well built and will last for years and for 100 I think the cats feel it was well worth it. It definitely looks way better than the carpet covered 2×4 sitting on the floor being ignored. Although this one is awesome, every once in a while if you watch you can find a nice tower on a good sale and save quite a bit, so for those that don’t want to build one check the links below for I did find a good sale for as long as it lasts.
