Dry Your Herbs In The Oven

          If you grow a lot of herbs you might want to dry them and save them instead of buying dried herbs at the store. You can even dry store-bought herbs if you have some left over. I buy basil once in a while and I almost never get the whole bunch used so I usually freeze them in some olive oil for use later but I kind of like this idea of drying them in the oven.

        I don’t really want to dry them in the dehydrator because the are almost weightless when dry and they tend to blow all over the inside of my dehydrator. I already dry comfrey using this oven method but had never even thought of drying basil, oregano, thyme and the other various herbs. Daily Pea shares instructions for drying herbs in the oven.

     I think it would be neat to dry a bunch of different herbs and then make a mix of the ones you like along with some sea salt and pepper or paprika and have it on hand for seasoning chicken and pork chops. Those herb mixes in the store are ind of pricey and if you grow your own you could make your own mixes pretty cheaply.
