Flea Repellant Essential Oil Recipe

Essential oil recipes need to be applied more frequently than chemical treatments but are not toxic. Twice a month.


6 – 8 drops Cedarwood essential oil

2 – 4 drops Lavender essential oil

1/4 cup water

Mix ingredients in a small glass bowl. Submerge soft cloth or nylon collar in the mixture. Let collar absorb mixture for five minutes. Hang collar to dry completely before putting the collar back on your dog.



Combing a short haired dog with a flea comb or lice combs once a week is helpful by killing adult fleas therefore stopping the reproduction cycle.

Place the adult fleas from the comb in a small bowl of water with a couple drops of dish soap so they will sink and drown. Combing does not kill the eggs around your home.

Adding diatomaceous earth to your Vacuum bag and washing the hard floors daily during the height of flea season is helpful to controlling fleas in the house. Diatomaceous earth can be dusted under a couch or over rugs to kill flea eggs.

Treating your yard:

Keep your grass cut short.

Watering can help drown the larvae as well.

Lavender essential oil is used to repel fleas and ticks.

Cedarwood – is a fragrant oil that provides a pheromone interruption agent that impairs the insects mental capacity and repels them.
