Hostas are an amazingly dramatic landscaping plant to beautify your property but they are also  an often forgotten or overlooked  edible plant.

It does not matter where you live, you can plant edible plants in your green space in plain view of people and because of their lack of knowledge it is a hidden living food source.

 In the spring, the young, green, tightly wrapped shoots are juicy and succulent and taste like asparagus or lettuce.

Variegated shoots taste the same, while the red bulbous bases of some hosta varieties are less juicy and may have a trace of bitterness.
