House Cleaning – Weekly & Monthly Tips

Doing housework is just a part of life that most people don’t enjoy, but they realize it has to be done. Here is a list of suggested chores.

Weekly Chores:

  • Dust all hard surfaces

  • Vacuum all carpets and rugs

  • Sweep and mop floors

  • Wipe down all counter tops

  • Scrub and disinfect toilets

  • Scrub and disinfect shower and tubs

  • Change and wash bedding

  • Empty garbage cans

    Water house plants

Monthly:

  • Wipe and disinfectant door knobs, wipe down doors.

  • Wipe down front of stove, refrigerator , dish washer, washing machine and dryer.

  • Run a cycle with two cups of vinegar through washing machine to remove internal grime. (No Clothes)

  • Clean out dryer hoses that vent outside. Lint gets trapped inside and is a fire hazard.

  • Launder comforters and blankets

    Wipe and disinfect the inside of the refrigerator

Every Three to Six Months:

  • Launder or hand wash all curtains

  • Wipe and disinfect the waste baskets

  • Wipe and dust ceiling fans

  • Scrub clean all the stove top burners and catch pans

  • Dust the moldings around all rooms – top and bottoms

  • Wipe down the fronts of kitchen cabinets

  • Clean oven

  • Clean out all sink and tub drains

  • Clean all pillows

  • Scrub grout

  • Wash and degrease stove top hood filter

Every Year:

  • Use a professional carpet cleaning machine to clean all carpets, rugs and upholstery.

  • Wash the walls with  1 cup vinegar, 1 cup water and 1/4 teaspoon of Castile soap  ( or Dawn dish washing liquid) – you can multiply the recipe as needed.

  • Clean food pantry by removing all items, sweep and wipe down all shelves.  Add bay leaves to deter insects.
