Strawberries And Cream Baumkuchen (Tree Cake)

See how to make the famous Baumkuchen cake right in your kitchen and then decorate it with creamy white frosting and strawberries for an absolutely beautiful cake that is perfect for a special occasion. Baumkuchen cake is a very famous German cake also known as the tree cake. It is made on a spit that turns in front of a flame and cake batter is poured or brushed on, as the spit turns the thin layer of cake turns golden and then another layer is poured or brushed on and allowed to turn golden and this continues for as long as the baker wants. Then it is slid off the spit and cut into what ever height of cake is being made. The reason the cake is called the tree cake is because the layers look like the rings in a tree when it is cut.  Byron Talbott shows how you can make a layered caked like this in your own kitchen without a spit. Then Yoli shares how she made hers and decorated it with strawberries and creamy white frosting. She has a recipe for the cake batter but even translating it  I could not understand it as it is in Bulgarian and did not translate well. You can watch the video and at the bottom of the video if you scroll down Bryon gives you a recipe for the cake batter (in English).

See the video here …Baumkuchen (Tree Cake).   Then you can go to Yoli’s site and check out the cake she made with the strawberries and cream. I want to make this. It really is a beautiful cake and even Bryon’s with chocolate Ganache sounds really good.
