How Far can You Walk in a Day When Bugging Out ?

Have you ever asked yourself how far you can walk in a day when bugging out on foot during an emergency situation and/or natural disaster ? Many people also have family members that will also be accompanying when leaving a dangerous area.

Here are some concerns that need to be considered and special actions to include everyone:

Young children

Elderly family members

Family members with health problems or special needs

Pets

My Experience:  My husband and I did a 5 mile hike last summer with our 3 dogs and were surprised at the results we encountered. We were exhausted, realized what equipment we needed to buy to improve our experience, that we needed to reduce the weight of our bug out bags or greatly improve our health and that our largest dog was not up to the task. We actually ended up having to carry her the last 1/2 mile on the return trip. We have bought a treadmill and have been training.
