There are many health benefits in eating one bowl of oatmeal every day. It can be incorporated into your cereal or eating as cooked, but it becomes bland because of the lack of flavor. That’s why you see flavored oatmeal, but it has sugar in it which defeats the purpose. So, put in natural toppings in it. Here are some healthy toppings for oatmeal that are great add-ins.

Two highly popular flavors for oatmeal are cinnamon and apple. Mix some sliced apple with grounded cinnamon and a touch of caramel and pecans. Other love to add fruit to oatmeal and there are several options. Go with a banana split, a mix of sliced banana, strawberry, and chocolate drizzle, or for the blueberry & pomegranate with some honey swirled in. You can get more tropical with pineapple and kiwi, or go frozen with berries and with whipped cream for a desert. Another mix is orange & chocolate and strawberry & kiwi with some heavy cream.

Sweet Things:

Chocolate Chips – Caramel – Berry Jam – Brown Sugar – Real Maple Syrup – Honey – Stevia – Agave Nectar

There are calmer mixes than the exploding fruit and cream. You can add chia seeds, raisins, honey, and a bit of whole milk to soften it. If you like figs, mix them with ricotta cheese and agave nectar. Honey, a popular add-in on its own, can also be swirled with pecans, cinnamon, and grated zucchini.

For just two ingredients, add dried cranberries and chopped pistachios. And, for the carrot cake taste, shaved carrots, raisins, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, and a touch of sugar (white or brown) is a great end to this topping list.
