1#There is a story about the hanging bottles from trees…. it was called a Sorrow Tree. People would whisper their sorrow into the bottle or write on a piece a paper the hurts they endured then place them in the bottle. After hanging the bottle, the wind comes along and carries their pain far away…all while making a mournful sound. It is a sad but beautiful tradition… I love & respect the old ways and stories my grandmother shared with me.
2#There is another story that has been told:During the daytime the sun shines through different hues of glass luring ghosts who had harmed people in their lifetimes with enchanting colors and sounds. Once they are within the bottles they become trapped for eternity or at least until the bottle is broken.
Maybe this gave people peace along with their prayers…
