Bread pudding while it is still warm and served with pineapple sherbet (my fave, you can go vanilla ice cream if you want) is one of my favorite desserts. I love while its warm and it needs to have raisins, or at least it always did, but then I found this recipe for bread pudding that has bittersweet chocolate pieces baked into it and I am so done with bread pudding with raisins. Who could choose raisins over chocolate? Not me thats for sure. Alton Brown created this masterpiece of stale bread, rich custard and bittersweet chocolate and my only complaint is that it took me so long to find it.
This looks so good and I would even settle for vanilla ice cream on this one and I really don’t care for vanilla, but with the chocolate in the bread pudding I think the vanilla would work ok. I really need to buy some challah bread and let it get stale. I may even use some Italian bread because I know I will find it sooner than challah but I will look for the challah to make this, it just seems worth it.
