If you have kids you can build a wooden swing set and save. I can remember when I was little my father found or bought plans to build my sisters and I a wooden slide. It was very neat looking. He built it all out of wood and then it was painted and I suppose poly-urethaned for outdoors.
What was so neat about the slide was that when he cut the wood out for the sides of it, the shape was a clown that was sort of bending over, like to pick a flower. So to go down the slide you climbed what would be the backs of the clowns legs and the top was his bent lower back and you slid down his back and off the back of his head. All of this clown was in the shape of the wood and then the paint job. We loved it and all the neighbor kids always wanted to be at our house.
He also built was a wooden teeter totter which was cool but nothing was as cool as that clown slide. Anyways we really loved it and as you can tell I am still impressed with him making it for us all these years later. Building a swing for your kids is a really nice way of showing them that you care for them while allowing you to save some money over buying pre-made. Howdy Ya Dewit shares the instructions for building this swing set and tells you how to set it in concrete so it can’t tip over. This would be a nice weekend project.
