If you would like to start beekeeping you can learn how to build a honey cow (top bar bee hive). The honey cow has top bars the bees build their comb on and so when you want to harvest the honey you pull one bar at a time from the hive and cut the comb off of it. This method for hives is the one that mast closely mimics bee hives in nature such as in a hollow log and is the easiest type of hive for beginner beekeepers. Here is a great tutorial on building a honey cow from a 55 gallon food grade barrel. If you need more info on beekeeping or would like to take a class before you start check out Beekeeping Info For Every State, there is info for every state on beekeeping.
