If you want to plant potatoes in containers, try building these boxes so you can add soil as the potatoes grow and then when you are ready to harvest you remove the bottom most board and harvest that layer and then move up to the next board and reach in and harvest that layer. I think I would probably just wait till the potatoes were done and harvest the whole box at one time. One thing you need to remember about growing potatoes in containers is that you should use seed potatoes and they should be mid to late season potatoes. The earlier potatoes like yukon gold are only going to produce one layer of potatoes. A few of the mid-season potatoes are, French Fingerling,Rose Finn Apple and Yukon Gem and late season are, German Butterball, Fingerling Salad, Bintje. Gardening Know How shares the plans to build these potato growing boxes.
