Using wood slats and galvanized pipe you can build this freestanding closet for around 200 dollars and really expand your closet space. You have space for hanging clothes on the galvanized pipe and plenty of shelf space and then you can add baskets or totes to hold all sorts of extra stuff. I really like this for a basement or a room that just doesn’t have a closet. It is funny sometimes if you buy an older home because they don’t always have a lot of closet space. I know mine home was built in the forties and the closets were about two feet wide when we bought the house. Needless to say we have torn out the tiny ones and added much bigger closets but I really like this for the basement. It could hold all the winter gear and off-season shoes and just all the things that you don’t need in the regular closet year round. Looks easy enough to build and the price is awesome.
