Part of an emergency preparedness plan should be an element of how to build a underground survival cache and what to put in it. Why you may ask ?
A survival cache can be as simple as a PVC tube with 2 ends caps glued on with silicone to make it waterproof and secure buried underground in a location away from your home full of items to create a warming fire, filter water, food to eat, medications if needed, security items, maps, money … anything to help you survive until you can get another location of safety.
A survival cache should be a secret secondary bare bones emergency supply kit that can be located easily with nature landmarks.
It is sort of like a mini bug out bag that stays put waiting for your return to claim it. I would suggest pouring a few inches of cement or heavy stone into the tube before adding your cache supplies to prevent the tube floating to the surface in case of heavy rains.
