This is an easy to build island and Mom In Music City shows you how to build yours. I love the rustic look of it and it looks like it would be nice and sturdy so it would be a great work space. She built it out of 2x4s and even made fake drawers to give it a finished look.
You can save a bundle by building this kitchen island yourself instead of buying one an it looks pretty good to me. I would need to buy a sheet of something solid to be able to roll out dough on but there are tons of choices. The top could be finished off with a solid top or the topper could be one you only put on when you need it to roll dough. A large board of some type would work for rolling.
