Then you add the cushions if your choice. I do think if we end up making a set like this that I will have hubs put hinges on the wood part of the seats so I can put totes inside for storage. Hopefully I can find some that will hold the cushions over the winter to keep them out of the weather.The great thing about this diy project is that you can add or subtract pieces to suit your needs and make your pieces bigger or smaller depending on the cushions you wish to use.
Then you can move the pieces around to configure the sectional the way you want it. So you could have it set up for seating one day and move them together for sun bathing the next. Very versatile and modifiable. Building your own modular sectional will save you a lot in the long run and you can always build one or two pieces at a time as you have the money. If you added the hinges to the seats this would be a great set for a play room because of the storage to hold lots of toys.
