Building A Small Shelter With An Axe And Natural Materials

In this article you will see 21 different shelters that you could build using only an axe and what ever natural materials may be available at your site. This originally started out as a compilation of 100 different small shelters that Kevin Langan was going to build. He planned to build and spend the night in each one and then blog about it. It looks as if he only made it to 21 but there are some here that I have never seen and some may find of use.

I do like that he only used what ever material he found available to him and his axe. The one in the middle picture even had bunks for multiple sleepers in a small shelter. Some are super primitive but a few are really neat.  Check them out and maybe the next time you plan to spend the night in the woods or at camp you may enjoy building one of these.

This would also be a neat thing to do with the kids and a great thing for boy scouts to try. You can see all of the shelters on 100 Wild Huts. Maybe some day he will finish the rest of the 100.
