While you are prepping for hard times do you ever wonder what you would do if starving people asked for food? I think most folks know that they can store rice and beans which are pretty cheap to buy in bulk. While the beans the older they get the longer they take to cook you can add a couple of spoons of baking soda to the soak water to help soften them some so they will cook.

I know a lot of poor people have a raised a lot of kids on these sorts of staples that they could either raise and store or buy cheap and store to get them through the winters.
In this video Misty manages to make some corn meal mush for a hot breakfast and then she makes a loaf out of the left overs to be able to fry up slices of it for a later meal. In my family we make a dish called scrapple which is very similar to the loaf she makes although we add bits of cooked meat and roll the slices in egg as well as flour before frying and usually serve it with syrup. It is really good and filling.

You will be able to eat and feed your family and even other starving folks for a while longer with some cheap field corn.
