The Cook Authentic Rustic Oxtail Potjie Recipe and project for setting up the cooking area were all made in hopes to help the presenter share their experiences with making the authentic South African meal.

People are always looking for new and unique experiences when it comes to other cultures. This is especially true when it comes to the kinds of foods and meal preparations. This is because many times it is impossible to replicate the way that a certain food tastes unless you prepare it in the exact same way as it would be made authentically. This recipe was designed to do exactly that including how to prepare the cooking of the food as if you were in South Africa.
Onto the actual ingredients and items I used, bare in mind that this was enough to feed 12-14 people.
Ingredients (in order of additions to the pot):
Some oil to coat the pot
2 Large Onions
1.1 pounds of fatty bacon
5 pounds of Oxtail
A generous tablespoon of crush garlic (about 3 to 4 cloves worth)
Cake Flour (used to coat the oxtail)
5 or 6 large carrots
4 Large leeks
Can of diced tomatoes
Small can of tomato paste
Beef stock or 3 beef broth cubes
1/4 cup of red wine
1 pound of whole mushrooms
1/2 cup of cream (you can mix in a bit of flour to thicken the stew)
Salt and pepper to taste
Some wine or beer to drink while you wait…… if you drink
