I know a lot of folks love chicken items for the kitchen and when I saw this crochet chicken potholder I knew a lot of you would want the free pattern. This one can be done in a variety of colors and it uses basic crochet stitches so anyone with basic crochet knowledge should be able to crochet some.

Both patterns are for chicken lace trim but they are very different in looks. This chicken potholder should be done with a heavier weight cotton thread since it will be used with hot things. She does state that the beak and wattle can be done in a lighter weight yarn if you wanted to. I would like to crochet two of these only bigger and then attach them leaving one side open to use as a pocket to keep dinner rolls warm at the table. If you left enough room open and the piece was big enough you could also use it to keep tortillas warm.
