Those of us who have chosen to be independent of sources of food and goods other than what we make or create can still enjoy a fine new Christmas tradition. Jell-O shots are a fairly recent invention.
These little morsels are a tasty way to enjoy a shot of alcohol. Most people pay a fortune to buy these little treats. You can make your own with things that you make yourself.
A Christmas Jell-O shot combines the traditional Christmas colors of red, green, and white. They look traditional and homey and add a taste sensation to alcohol that is very festive.
1 box (3 oz.) Jell-O™ cherry
1 box (3 oz.) Jell-O™ lime
3 packets unflavored gelatin
1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups vanilla vodka
36 dollops whipped cream (for garnish)
36 mint leaves (for garnish)
72 small red candies (or 36 if using just one for garnish)
These little Christmas delights can be made by the full blown homesteader as well as those who may have to buy a few ingredients. All you really need is gelatin, alcohol, water, milk, cream, and colorings. Colored candles add a Christmas touch to the serving of these treats.
It will take you about an hour to get everything ready. You do not need refrigeration. Cover the Christmas Jell-O shots and put them outside before you serve them. These are potent so be careful about how many you down.
