Delicious Homemade Chinese Egg Tart Recipe

If you ask people about a tart chances are most of them will be thinking about a small, bite sized pie. This recipe while it is a pie it is also like custard and it is delicious.

Delicious Homemade Chinese Egg Tart Recipe

The only Chinese egg tart I have had is from one of our local Chinese restaurants. While this recipe has a flaky sort of puff pastry crust the egg tarts I had were made in a muffin tin and the crust was made from two wonton wraps that were pushed into the muffin tin to form the crust. They put the first one in and then turned the second one so the corner points of the square would be on the sides the first corner points were not. I know that sounds confusing but basically, you need two wraps and then you need them turned different from each other so that you tart will have crust all the way around.

The way they make them at that restaurant they are so delicious. The wonton is thin and it gets crisp in the oven and the flavor of the sweet egg really comes through. I think now that I have found a recipe for them I will try this crust first but I think I am really hooked on the wonton crust. This recipe was created by the author because she had the opportunity to have the tarts fresh from the oven and says that they are super delicious hot. The ones I ate were only warm so when I make this recipe I will see if I like them better hot.
