The layers are spread with homemade caramel frosting made from butter, brown sugar and cream. Then the top is frosted with a cream cheese frosting and decorated with toasted pecan halves on top and chopped pecans and toasted coconut on the sides for a gorgeous cake. Lorie’s Mississippi Kitchen shares this recipe and it looks amazing.
If you read the comments one of her viewers made a small change to the recipe by making the cake with instead of three layers she added a layer of pumpkin cheese cake for the middle layer. Says she got rave reviews. I think I will make this at Thanksgiving and add the cheese cake layer because as delicious as this one sounds that cheese cake layer would take this cake right over the top, especially for cheese cake lovers. A slice of this and a cup of coffee sounds really good right now.
