Learn how to make these deliciously spiced dehydrated apple slices and you can dry and store a whole bunch of apples this fall to enjoy over the winter. Once dehydrated you can store them in a glass jar or a sealed mylar bag and they will keep for months so you can still be eating those delicious fall apples come March.
Our One Acre Farm shares a recipe for soaking the slices in honey and then offers a couple of different choices in spicing them. You can use the cinnamon and nutmeg or a chai blend to spice them. With a dehydrator, some apples and some spices you can really add to your dried fruit storage. I really like to flavor mine with just a little sugar and some cardamom, ( I love cardamom. In cookies, quick bread and puddings and on dehydrated apples.) We also like to dry them with a little spicy kick so we have a variety.
When I am making the spicy with a kick version I sprinkle them with Tajin Fruit and Snack Seasoning which is a spice blend of chili pepper, salt and dehydrated lime and it is excellent on fruits and vegetables. we love it on the dried apples but it is super good on raw cucumbers and corn on the cob too. Lots of flavor and just a bit of bite, yumminess. So there you have it three ways to make deliciously spiced dehydrated apple slices for plenty of variety.
