DIY PVC Tomato Cages

Instead of the wire tomato cage you can build your own pvc tomato cages and save them from year to year. These cages are nice and sturdy. They will keep you tomato plants up off the ground away from the dirt and crawling bugs. They will also allow for deep watering at the root level. Check out the pictures of how well the tomato plants did in the pvc cages in this photo. Amazing.

DIY PVC Tomato Cages

This tutorial is from I Dream of Eden and check out those tomato plants in the cages. They are giants. I really love the look of these pvc cages and their whole garden. The cages would let in plenty of light and the breezes needed to move the pollen around so you could get plenty of tomatoes. I know the plants would produce more tomatoes than mine do when they are tied to stakes because tomatoes need to be blown around a little to share pollen in order to produce tomatoes. My husband like the stake method but then he ties the plants to the stake to keep them upright and I feel it prevent sufficient movement of the plant. I am going to build a couple of these cages and do a comparison this year.
