So when she got to the point of being sick of everything she had a 12 by 20 portable building installed on her property and now lives there full time. She has solar panels for lights, a fan for the summer heat, a propane stove grill and a sterno cooker for cooking needs. She set up a composting toilet and has a propane heater for winter. She is thinking about buying another portable building to use as a bath house,

For water at this point in time she is using some 7 gallon containers that she fills for free at the local park. She pays for garbage pick up which runs her 14 dollars per month. She has no water, electric or gas bills. She says she can live there and buy what food she needs with very little money and that a person could do so with only a part time job. While she has the five acres it doesn’t say that she gardens but you could which would help cut down on food costs as well.

So it does seem that if you have the will and really want to get out of town and live in the country it can be done by someone determined. Read all about her journey on Surviving The Sheep.
