Apartment Therapy shares screen box wooden frame fly trap that is simple to make and is not expensive.

Flies can be annoying to people, pets and farm animals.

Besides making this amazing fly trap, there are other things you can do to reduce flies around your home.

Flies breed in rotting material, securing your garbage cans with tight fitting lids can stop them from getting inside.

Pouring boiling water in an empty dirty garbage can once a week will kill any fly eggs that are growing inside.

Crushed mint placed in bowls and placed strategically around the home and near front and back doors that people come and go out will discourage flies.

Better yet grow mint as an indoor plant, it repels flies and spiders.

Hang a CD up with string, to allow it to spin around in the wind.

5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil on a book mark sized piece of paper hung around the house has been reported to drive flies away.
