Food Storage and Useful Idea To Earthquake Proof Shelves

Make your own earthquake proof shelves. Check out this idea for putting together those metal shelving units for food storage. They turned the shelves upside down when assembling the shelves and this provided a lip to prevent can slipping or sliding off the shelf. They also use a strip of metal tape to prevent the entire unit from falling over in case of earthquake. I love the upside down shelves for areas even where there are no earthquakes. Sometime as you add a can or jar the shelf is crowded and it ends up pushing another can or jar right off, this would solve that problem. Great idea from The New Survivalist. They have a few other helpful ideas in the article as well.
