Fruit Frosted Cupcakes – Vintage Recipe

_)!!!bbbb

This vintage recipe comes from the Ladies’ Auxiliary cookbook from 1952 shared by Mary Gatien.  These Fruit Frosted Cupcakes were served at many ladies tea parties and luncheons as women gathered to plan events and fundraising events for their communities.
In turn, women took this treasured recipe home and prepared them for their families.

The above ” Fruit Frosted Cupcakes ”  recipe reminds me of the famous  “Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa” recipe from the movie  Steel Magnolias  where “Truvy”  the hairdresser played by Dolly Parton is asked for her Southern cookie recipe.

.
Ingredients

1 cup flour

1 cup sugar

1 cup of fruit cocktail with syrup

1 cup of milk

1 cup of butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Take your cup of butter, place in a baking dish and let it melt in the oven.  Meanwhile, mix all other ingredients together.  When butter is melted, pour your mixture into the pan.  Then, as Truvy says, “bake in a hot oven until golden brown and bubbly.”
