We have just had a new Costco store open in my town. I have never been in one. With this great advice on shopping at Costco I think I might end up buying a membership to shop there.
We have a Sam’s Club in town and I did have a membership there but found I wasn’t using it very much so I let it go. This article from Kitchen Stewardship gives a really nice breakdown of what you can find at Costco and many of the items are things that I would like to buy so I may end up doing so. The breakdown is set up to cover things in categories like basics, essentials, fun things etc. It seems that they carry quite a lot of organic and natural products which is definitely a good thing and a big pull for me to buy the membership.
They have for instance organic corn chips. We use a lot of corn chips and organic would be a great thing to have. They also have canned tuna and salmon are in BPA free cans, a definite plus. I wish all canned goods had to be in BPA free cans. I pretty much quit buying canned veggies and only buy frozen because of the food sitting in those cans just soaking up BPA.
The article goes on to name other things most of us would like to buy like Kerrygold butter,,Yumm and threatens you with a candy aisle to break all diets over. But in general it really gives you a nice idea of what kind of shopping is available at Costco without having to go there first.
