Why it is so important to Grow Antibiotic Garlic in Homesteading Garden ? Garlic is a broad spectrum antibiotic, killing a wide variety of bacteria. Many pharmaceutical antibiotics kill only a narrow range of these germs. Garlic has the broadest spectrum of any antimicrobial substance that we know of — it is antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, antiprotozoan and antiviral.
Louis Pasteur discovered garlic’s power as a bacteria remover in the human body. This was practiced in the First World War when medics treated wounds with garlic juice mixed with water. A garlic clove has an antibiotic strength of 1/5 the dose of penicillin. The garlic has to be crushed to release a substance inside called alliin, which can become allicin when mixed with oxygen. Mixing water with garlic can make a cream to treat the virus simply known as MRSA. The use of garlic for certain remedies is called GOOT – garlic oil ointment treatment.
GOOT (garlic oil ointment treatment) is made from 3 tablespoons of raw coconut oil, 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and 1 tablespoon of crushed garlic. First, heat up the coconut oil in a small pan until it melts and add the extra virgin olive oil to mix. Take the pan off and mix in the garlic. Next, put the mix inside a blender and put it on slow for two minutes, followed by fast for another two minutes. Drain it out to get rid of the garlic chunks and pour it into a small jar. The paste will be ready in an hour, but it can last longer with a lid on and in the fridge.
Here is a second one: garlic oxymel. Heat a half-cup of apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons each of aniseed and caraway. When it boils, lower the heat and add 6 crushed garlic cloves. After 15 minutes, drain the mix, add 2 tablespoons of honey, mix, pour in a jar, and place in the fridge.
