Strep throat is going around here. I have a daughter and 3 grand kids that have it right now. I woke with a pretty raw throat today as well. Strep is super contagious so if you have it or are around someone that has it make sure the infected person cover their mouth when sneezing or coughing.
Wash your hand frequently and if the person that is ill doesn’t improve in a couple of days they will probably need antibiotics from a doctor. In children strep can cause scarlet fever. If you wish to try some home remedies there are a couple I use. The first is oil of oregano. It is a natural antibiotic and an antiviral. I use it for my sinuses and have had fewer sinus infections simply by taking 2 capsules per day.
For sore throat whether from a bacterial infection or viral oil of oregano can help. I take mine in capsule form but when I have a sore throat I will open one of the capsules and add it to a small cup of warm water, then use it to gargle with. I will then make a cup of tea and open another capsule and add the oil to the tea and drink it that way so my throat is bathed in the oil for half hour or so.
I have also read that
gargling with apple cider vinegar (that has the mother) can also help. Its early spring now and this time of year and again in the fall are the seasons when strep throat is really active.
Earth clinic (link below) is my favorite natural remedy site because the remedies are given by regular folks like you and me. Checking there, I find the remedies that have worked for folks are apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper. So now you have a choice of home remedies to help with strep throat.
