This Homemade 2 in 1 Pancake or Biscuits Mix Recipe is just another way to get back to cooking from scracth. We are now in a time of DIY homemade recipes with everything and Bisquick is another food that can be invented right at home.
Making homemade pancakes and biscuits is quite easy with this 2 in 1 pancake or biscuit mix – hence the name. It consists of flour, shortening, salt, and baking powder – That is all there is in a box sold in sold and available for all homesteading kitchens since 1931.
They combine and mix all dry ingredients for us to simply pour out and add in extra ingredients, like milk and eggs, to make the proper batter for pancakes and biscuits. It has been a popular kitchen staple for such a long time that we have come up with our own homemade Bisquick.
To make Pancake or biscuit Mix at home…
3 1/2 cups of flour
1 stick of butter
1/4 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
1/8 cup of baking powder
Combine all dry ingredients and mix
With the butter, chop it up and blend it with all the other ingredients in a food processor or blender for about 3 minutes.
To make Pancakes add – 2 cups of dry mix plus 1 cup Milk and 2 eggs
To make Biscuits add – 2 cups of dry mix plus 1 cup milk
Place the homemade Bisquick mix in a food storage container and store in the fridge if there is any extra left after use; it will last another 2 weeks. That is it! It is that simple to make.
Bonus Note: Shortening or oil can be used in place of the butter, if desired. If using melted butter, be sure to evenly disperse the butter as much as possible.
