Fall is apple season and this recipe for homemade apple pie scones is a delicious way to use some of those apples. I love finding new recipes for fruits when they are in season. There are all the traditional stand bys like apple pie and baked apples but I like to try new recipes and this recipe from Oh Sweet Basil is right up my alley. I like scones and so apple pie scones are becoming one of my favorites. T
hey are chock full of chunks of apples and topped with a browned butter glaze while they are still hot and they are so yummy. While most of my scone recipes are from the US and call for all purpose flour this one and many from Europe and Australia call for self rising. If all you have in the house is all purpose you can turn it into self rising flour by whisking together 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to each cup of flour.
I usually make my own as needed because I use self rising rarely and it is so easy to just add the leavening when I need it in there. So next time you have some apples and a hankering for scones try this apple pie scone recipe and see if it gets added to your recipe box.
