Making your own furniture is a great way to get stuck into hands on, DIY project at home. Tables always come in handy, and this homemade bottle cap tray table will be an eye-catching feature in your home.

Step 1: Collect Bottle Caps

Choose the bottle caps you want to use for the project. They should be scratch-free and unbent.

Step 2: Choose Your Table

Your table will become a fixture to the room you place it in. Make sure that you’re happy with the size and shape you’ve chosen. Also, ensure that it has a raised-edge top, something like a tray. If it doesn’t the resin will leak out during the flooding process.

Step 3: Arrange Your Caps on the Table

Place them in an order that you’re happy with.

Step 4: Glue Your Caps to the Table

You can use superglue, unibond or even epoxy with paint to apply a coat that will hold your bottle caps down. Do it properly though or they will float up during the resin flood. Allow it to dry for 24 hours.

Optional Step 5: Using Grout

You can use grout between the tiles to save on resin. However, make sure that you don’t scuff or scratch the bottle caps while applying it.

Step 6: Pour the Flood Coat

Make sure you have the right quantity of resin to cover your table. Then follow the instructions on the box in order to mix it properly. Pour the liquid over your table. Then spend 1 to 2 hours removing the bubbles that form on the surface, with a heat gun or a straw. After it’s started to harden, leave it to cure for 48 hours.

Step 7: Admire Your Work

You’re done! Enjoy your new homemade grouted bottle cap tray table.
