Homemade Caramel Apples Old Fashioned Vintage Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup table fat

8 to 10 medium apples

1 cup sifted brown sugar

2/3 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup chopped nuts or coconut

1 cup cream or evaporated milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract (personally I would use 1 teaspoon)

Caramel Apple Sticks

Bonus: You can roll caramel apples in mini chocolate chips, crumbled Oreo cookies, and your favorite candies.

Directions:

1. Mix sugars, syrup, fat, cream and salt in 2 quarts. saucepan. Cook, stirring until firm balls form in icy-cold water.

2. Remove syrup from heat; cool until slightly thickened. Add vanilla and stir.

3. Place a wooden stick in stem end of each apple and dip the apple into caramel syrup.

4. Drain apples on waxed paper, roll in chopped nuts.
