Homemade Cast Iron Pan Pepperoni Cheese Pizza Recipe - Homesteading

Deep dish pizzas are different in shape and taste because the circles are smaller but the crust is thicker. These special pizzas are quite filling and have a much different flavor compared to traditional pizzas. People like to bake their own at home and it is a simple process. Have the following ingredients: pizza dough, flour, canola oil, pepperoni/sausage, green bell peppers, diced tomatoes, seasonings (basil, oregano), marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and garlic butter sauce; get a rolling pin and a black skillet to shape the pizza.

First, work on the crust and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Roll out the dough in a wide circle on a surface floured; flour the rolling pin also so it won’t stick itself on the dough. Next, prepare the iron skillet by adding a tablespoon of canola oil on the bottom. This will be the lead to having a crunchy crust. Next, move the dough to the pan and let it hang over the edge loosely; then softly push the dough all the way in. Add cheese to the edges of the crust to create that filling. Roll the edges around the cheese.

Ingredients:

bench flour for rolling out dough

1 Tbsp canola oil for skillet

Pepperoni or deli meats of your choice

green bell peppers

fresh tomatoes – some diced, some sliced

dried seasonings of your choice

dried basil

dried oregano

garlic powder

Italian sausage marinara (Click here to learn how to make)

2 -3 cups shredded or chopped mozzarella cheese

3 cups garlic butter sauce

Don’t fill the bottom with sauce first; go with the pepperoni, sausage, ham, or any other meats you choose. Then, add some chopped green bell peppers; you don’t have to have peppers if you don’t like them. With about 3 cups of mozzarella chopped, fill half of the pan with it, season it with your basil or oregano, pour the sauce, and then top it with the rest of the cheese.  Top it all off with sliced or diced tomato. Stick in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes. Spread melted garlic butter on the crust when you take the pizza out for a final kick to it.
