Homemade dutch apple pudding with butterscotch sauce recipe is a great recipe that you can make ahead and freeze until the day you need it. Then all you need to do is thaw it out in the oven or microwave and make up the butterscotch sauce to pour over it.

It can be made in one large pudding or in individual ramekins. The recipe is from Love Foodies and is a nice one for fall and winter when the apples are at good prices. When you make the butterscotch sauce the recipe tells you to not stir it at all. You need to heed this and not stir, if you do stir you will end up with sugar crystals in your sauce. I usually put a lid on my sauce pan so that as the steam collects on the lid it runs back down into the pan and that keep all the sugar liquified.
This is so good you will end up making it often when apples are in season. It reminds me a bit of a bread pudding but it has the chunks of sweet apples and that delicious butterscotch sauce to pour over. I like to double the sauce when I make it because we like extra on our pudding.
