Who doesn’t love a great  homemade German chocolate cake. Made in layers with a coconut and pecan filling that is absolutely scrumptious. I remember my mother making this when I was young and we loved it. You don’t see it much anymore but it is so worth making.

Especially if you have chocolate lovers in the house. This recipe if from Fattaincassa and calls for a dark chocolate ganache icing. I have never had it with ganache, we always had it with the top covered with the same mixture as the filling and it was super good. i think if I make this I will make more of the filling and skip the ganache icing. This looks so good, I can’t wait to try this recipe and see if German chocolate cake really is as delicious as I remember.
