Homemade Molasses Cookies

Homemade molasses cookies that are soft on the inside but crisp on the outside are totally delicious. Peppridge Farm used to have an old fashioned molasses cookie in those unassuming folded at the top bags and these are them. I loved those cookies and was very sad when they were discontinued so now to find this recipe and be able to bake them at home makes me very happy. I love molasses cookies and gingerbread cookies.

I like gingerbread that is actually kind of spicy. These are not but they have that sort of dark smoky taste that is molasses and they are one of my very favorite cookies. They turn out just like the ones I used to buy. They have a soft and semi chewy center but the edge when you bite are just a touch crisp so not only do you get the taste experience but you also get an awesome texture experience as well.

You can make these at home with the recipe shared by I heart Nap Time and if you have been missing them like I have you will be very thankful for the recipe. If you have never had an old fashioned molasses cookie you should really give these a try. They have a lot of flavor and you may find a favorite to add to your cookie jar. Another great thing about these cookies is that when you use black strap molasses you will be adding some great nutrition to your cookies.

So when the kids eat them you will know that while yes they are eating cookies they are also getting ” manganese, copper, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, vitamin B6, and selenium.” per: whfoods. So you don’t have to feel quite as guilty giving them or yourself a cookie or two.
