Homemade Old Fashioned Alfredo Sauce Recipe

This homemade old fashioned alfredo sauce recipe is delicious, frugal to make and quite simple to make. It is a sauce that is easily poured over cooked pasta to feed a large family on a small grocery budget.

Fettuccini Alfredo is a very popular pasta dish because of the second word, “Alfredo.” The white sauce is creamy and full of flavor, more than the usual tomato sauce, and can even more rich when made at home.

In 10 minutes, homemade Alfredo sauce can be in the fridge with the easiest of ingredients:

½ cup butter

8 oz. cream cheese

2 tsp. garlic powder

2 cups milk

6 oz. grated Parmesan cheese

1/8 tsp. black pepper

First, melt the butter in a non-stick saucepan over a medium heat. Then, add the cream cheese and garlic powder while stirring with a whisk until smooth. Next, add the milk slowly to smooth any lumps, and stir in the Parmesan cheese and pepper. After a few moments, remove the pan from the heat below, as the sauce will thicken up if it’s cooked too long. Cook the pasta of choice, and, when ready, toss the sauce in and mix it up before serving it.

This will serve four servings, so, if there are leftovers, put in a clean jar – one recycled of pasta sauce – and stick in the fridge. Yum, yum, it is done, and make more if desired for future pasta cooking. It is good with any kind of pasta, as well as mixed with chicken, mushroom, or any vegetables as part of a pasta dish. It works well.

Do not be timid, play around and customize your alfredo sauce by sprinkling fresh minced herbs over the sauce.
