Compared to store bought deodorizers which are chemical-based, harmful, and expensive, this DIY carpet deodorizer is made using natural, organic ingredients. With essential oils, you don’t have to worry about damages to your carpet, and they have real health benefits too. Also, using essential oils in your deodorizer indeed eliminates the odors compared to the store-bought/chemical-based ones which only mask the odor.

10 drops Lavender Essential Oil

1/2 cup Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade

3 Tablespoons of dehydrated Lemon Peel (use blender to grind up into dust)

2. Pour dry ingredients into a regular mouth mason jar.

3. Add Grapefruit and Lavender essential oil drops.

4. Use a nail and hammer to poke multiple (quite a bit) in a metal canning jar lid.

5. Place canning jar lid and ring on mason jar.

Sprinkle carpet powder lightly, leave for a half of an hour and then vacuum.

This shows exactly why homemade carpet deodorizing powder is easy to make and a cheaper option. Also, it is made using natural and organic ingredients which offer excellent health benefits too.

They have antibacterial properties and help to purify the air around thereby leaving you with nothing but fresh air.

Using Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) helps repel fleas. Diatomaceous Earth is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms and marine life. Diatomaceous Earth is deadly to any insect (fleas) yet completely harmless to animals. Don’t worry about your dogs maybe ingesting the ingredient “Diatomaceous Earth” in the carpet powder because it is sometimes is actually used internally for killing parasites. Diatomaceous Earth can eliminate roundworms, whipworms, pinworms, and hookworms within seven days of being fed daily.
