1. Prepare your pastry for a two crust pie. (Click Here)
2. Wipe, quarter, core, peel, and thinly slice then chopped up apples; measure to 2 cups.
Arrange apples in thin layer in pastry lined pie plate.
Sprinkle the layer with sugar, lemon juice and flour to thicken juices. Dot top layer with small pieces of butter.
Drain one large crushed Pineapple. Pour on top of the layers of apples.
Gently brush on an egg wash ( 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk) and sprinkle on 1 tablespoon of sugar.
Place on lowest rack in oven preheated to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake for 30 to 35 minutes longer. Serve warm or cold.
Place the glass pie dish on a baking sheet to prevent any spill-over from dripping onto the oven’s floor.
