Being prepared is about what abilities a person can do do rather than the goods that can be packed. Anyone can carry food and tools, but if one can’t use it correctly, then providing for a family can look bleak. Plus, it is better to survive when working in a small group than doing this solo. It is essential to have countless number of talents when out and about in a nature which requires long-term methods of making it.
Expertise with firearms, particularly with a rifle or a pistol, is crucial when it comes to defending and hunting kill in the woods. It is maybe the most important part of the prepping life. It is a must-do unless you want to be mauled by a bear or starve.
Then, there is the ability of planting and harvesting crops and and vegetables, which most people will don’t know how to do properly. This does not have to be a large plot of land, but a fairly decent size of herbs and vegetables for food. Having the knowledge of what crops are worth planting and when is the right time to produce them is of high appeal to survive out alone in the world.
Then, there are the common talents of cooking, cleaning, and fixing things. If there is no water from a sink, but from the river and is not clean – for safety sake, you will need to know how to clean it properly. For clean water, boil it properly by making a fire, which will also help in using the pot for foods.
Having the skills to fix things, such as building shelters, fixing mechanical objects, and properly come up with homemade tools is a strong characteristic.
Speaking about fixing, knowing some basic medical moves to treat wounds and perform CPR is extremely valuable.
