How to Build a Geodesic Dome Garden Greenhouse

This step by step tutorial of how to build a geodesic dome garden greenhouse to create a space to grow fruits, vegetables and flowers. If you are motivated, you can build a geodesic dome greenhouse using everyday materials you can purchase at any local home improvement store. With proper design and covering you can have tropical temperatures, even in the dead of winter.

You can grow an incredible amount of fresh organic food inside your Geodesic Dome year round. Fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables just taste better when grown on your own homestead and picked when fully ripe.   So much of the fruit and vegetables you buy from a grocery store are picked BEFORE it fully ripens and then is transported hundreds (if not thousands) miles away.

Materials for a 3m wide geodesic dome – If you want to make a bigger one, you will have to recalculate the material you need.

  • Concrete tiles 40x60x5cm (15x)

  • Filling sand (20kg)

  • 28×44 wood (24×3,5m)

  • 10×30 slats (20×2.1m)

  • Plywood

  • Hinges (2x for door, 2x for window)

  • Greenhouse foil (at least 4mx6,5m) (Plastic)

  • Humidity barrier (like roofing material)

  • Screws

  • Concrete dowels

  • paint

  • Staples

  • Tape

Tools – you will need to build this project:

  • Shovel

  • Hammer

  • Spirit level

  • Saw

  • Hammer drill

  • Cordless drill

  • Sander

  • Stapler

  • Nail gun
