This is an introduction article to sheltering in place during a disaster for readers that are new to the concept. Sheltering in place is for normally a short amount of time (hours)… during a chemical spill, terrorist attack, industrial fire and such.

Food, water, lighting, emergency radio, medical supplies, emergency contacts, duck tape and plastic sheeting are all a must.
