This John Deer Tractor Bunk Beds DIY Project is homemade furniture that will make any homesteading children thrilled to sleep, dream and play on THEIR tractor.
This bunk bed can be the focus point for a whole theme to a bedroom decorations.
As well as making bedtime more fun, these sturdy bunk beds allow for them to use the same floor space twice.
The headboard: must be 68” in length, being 13” on top and 10.5” on the bottom. Width should be 36.” As a substitute at the top of the bunk bed’s railing are three equally sized blocks. Focusing on top, each of those blocks should be 3.5” x 2” to let the rails be placed in between them. Overall, the top is 18.5” in height. The three separate vertical and parallel pieces at the top are, from top to bottom, 4 inches, 3.5 inches, and 5.5 inches. Two inches separate them.
The bed’s rails: from a 2×6 piece, it should be 80” long and 3.5” wide. Along the inside of the rail, a 2×2 is 73” in length with 3.5” of gap at the ends. On top of that, small blocks should be glued on measured at ¾” x ¾” x 2 ½” and 4 inches in between each block. A shallow angled edge should be smooth on the top of the rail opposite to the 73” extension on the same piece. From the end of piece to the start of the first block, it should be 6 ¾.”
The bed frame: a dozen slats should be made from 1 x 4 pieces and there should be cuts at the ends to fit into the gaps made on the bottom. Drill four holes at each corner lined up of the bottom frame to use 2.5” wood screws.
Finally, the ladder: it should be easily screwed in with wood screws. Each step should be 19” long and 2.5” wide and cut three of them. The ladder should be 57.5” in length. The gap between each step to the top should be 13 inches. There should be a sketch to where the legs will be screwed in along the legs. The cut to where the leg will meet the top of the railing must be 1.5” deep.
