Broomstick lace is such a gorgeous crochet method. I love the lacy look of the finished piece. This crochet stitch is from way back and they actually did it using a piece of a broom stick. Now days there are different sized knitting needles that are used along with your crochet hook. You can make the lace big with a size 50 needle or you can make it smaller. And the size of the opening in each stitch can be made bigger or smaller as well. Looking at an item that has been crocheted using the broomstick lace method looks like it would be very hard to do but with this pictorial from Gritty Knits and the video from Red Heart most everyone should be able master the stitch.
Once you have it figured out you can use the free pattern for the baby blanket from Red Heart to make a gorgeous broomstick lace blanket for some special baby in your life. Or go wild and crochet some broomstick scarves for the winter to warm the necks of your nearest and dearest. I love the colors in this baby blanket, so pretty.
